The Summit Avenue Reconstruction project includes reconstructing Summit Avenue, enclosing the existing storm sewer system, and constructing a sidewalk and shared use path from Nottinghill Court to Dooner Drive. This project was awarded to Keller Construction in the amount $2,218,364.26. The cost to the City is being offset by $1,300,000 from a Local Project Funding Grant from the State of Illinois, $794,000 from Federal Surface Transportation Program Grants. Keller will begin construction on Summit Avenue starting April 1, 2026, with construction staking and setting up the necessary traffic control. At the beginning of May they plan on begin working on enclosing the storm sewer and installing some necessary retaining walls. They will then move into working on the curb and road pavement followed by the sidewalks and shared use path.
