Fire Hydrant Flushing - City Wide

The Collinsville Fire Department will be conducting fire hydrant testing throughout the city. For a list of current locations you can visit the Fire Department's Facebook page If your water runs and is a brownish color, this is why. Please just let your water run until it runs clear. We encourage you to not do any white loads of laundry during this time.

About the Collinsville Fire Department:

The Collinsville Fire Department currently provides fire protection services to the City of Collinsville and to a small portion of Collinsville Township, commonly referred to as the Collinsville Fire Protection District. The Fire Department provides emergency medical services (EMS) to the same areas at the advanced life support (ALS) level, the highest level of pre-hospital emergency care available.

The City of Collinsville encompasses 15.3 square miles, and the Collinsville Fire Protection District 7.9 square miles, for a total of 23.2 square miles and an estimated population of 28,250. The protection area is located in both Madison and St. Clair Counties. Collinsville Fire Department has 36 sworn personnel who work a 24-72 shift schedule and operate from two fire stations with a minimum staffing of 8 firefighter/paramedics. The Administrative Staff includes 2 sworn Fire Department Administrators, a Fire Prevention Inspector, an Executive Assistant, and a part-time Administrative Assistant.

Our Mission is to promote a safe community by providing superior service to citizens and visitors. The department will accomplish its Mission through fire prevention and education, fire suppression, advanced medical services to the sick and injured, along with hazard mitigation.

Goals:

  • To develop a system of fire & rescue services which will ensure the utmost in human life preservation, incident control, and property protection for all areas of the community;

  • To provide an emergency medical service that will result in the greatest patient survival rate possible;

  • To maximize the efficiency of the fire suppression service which will effectively control the various emergencies which occur in the community;

  • To manage a fire prevention program of competent code enforcement while creating a positive relationship with the current and future business community;

  • To promote an educational program which consistently creates a public awareness that results in a significantly safer community;

  • To maintain all department buildings, apparatus and equipment to the highest quality standards; and

  • To provide a comprehensive training program which will ensure that all personnel are thoroughly trained to handle all conceivable types of emergencies.
