Stutz Excavating will begin work on the widening of Horseshoe Lake Road and the reconstruction of McDonough Lake Road starting Monday, September 15th. This project will be completed in two phases, each requiring road closures. Three plan sheets have been provided of the road closures: Phase I highlighted in yellow and Phase II in pink.

PHASE 1 – ROAD CLOSURE

Beginning on Monday, September 15th, Horseshoe Lake Road will be close from Eastport Plaza Drive to Freedom Drive and McDonough Lake Road from Horseshoe Lake Road to the south entrances of Collinsville Area Soccer Association. Phase I is estimated to be completed within 6 weeks.

PHASE II – ROAD CLOSURE

McDonough Lake Road will be shut down from the north two entrances of Collinsville Area Soccer Association to 1032 McDonough Lake Road. Phase II is estimated to be completed before the end of this year.

ROUTES TO TAKE – PHASE I

LOCAL TRAFFIC: Drivers traveling within town should use IL-157 north of Horseshoe Lake Road and turn west on McDonough Lake Road. This will bring you to the north side of the construction limits.

INTERSTATE TRAVEL: The most direct interstate detour is to take I-255 to Exit 25A (I-55 North), then continue to Exit 11 (IL-157). From there, head north on IL-157 to reach McDonough Lake Road. Interstate travel may also exit I-255 to Exit 26 (Horseshoe Lake Road), travel south on Eastport Plaza Drive to the intersection of IL-157, then head north to reach McDonough Lake Road.

At the first phase of construction, patrons of the Collinsville Area Soccer Association will access the fields through the two north entrances of their property. For those traveling to 926 McDonough Lake Road (Pride, Lowry Electric, MSSC), a temporary access road will be constructed. This connection will run from CASA’s south driveway to the north end of the 926 parking lot, ensuring uninterrupted access throughout Phase I construction.

When Phase II begins, the intersection of McDonough Lake Road and Horseshoe Lake Road will be open.

During the road closures, access to residents will be maintained by temporary means provided by the contractor. If you are unsure how to best access your residence while construction is ongoing, please speak with the contractor on site or call the City of Collinsville.
