Local Tax Payments

Businesses operating within the City of Collinsville are required to pay local sales taxes for food and beverage sales and hotel/motel accommodations. Information for each type of tax is provided below along with the Ordinance that provides regulations for each tax. Payments must be submitted online through the software link provided. Directions for creating an account and submitting payments are provided below as well.

Payment Portal

Payments must be made online at the link below. If this is your first time using the payment portal, you will need to create an account by clicking the "Sign Up" button. In order to create your account and link it to your business, you will need to have your Business License number, a valid email address, and FEIN number. To submit Food and Beverage Tax, you will need your state sales tax return (ST-1). To submit Hotel/Motel Tax, you will need your Illinois Retailer's Sales and Use Tax or Hotel Operator's Tax returns for the month. Additionally, to receive credit for permanent residents, you will need a list of permanent residents and their receipts.

Need assistance setting up your account? Join the Azavar team at City to get your business registered. Please bring your City Business License Number, State Tax ID, and have an email address for your appointment. 

Tuesday, May 15 - 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Wednesday, May 16 - 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Thursday, May 17 - 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Food and Beverage Tax

The Food and Beverage Tax is a 1% tax imposed on the sale of food and beverages prepared for immediate consumption, typically restaurants, though other types of businesses may be required to collect this tax as well. Businesses should collect the tax at the time of the sale and remit to the City on a monthly basis. Payments for each month are due by the 25th of the following month. The attached Ordinance provides complete information on the types of businesses required to collect the tax and requirements for collecting and remitting the tax to the City.

Hotel/Motel Tax

The Hotel/Motel Tax is a 9% tax imposed on the rental or lease of hotel and motel accommodations. Businesses should collect the tax at the time the rental or lease payment is made and remitted to the City on a monthly basis. Payments for each month are due by the last day of the following month. The attached Ordinance provides complete information on the requirements for collecting and remitting the tax to the City.
